The Weekend Australian gave over 7 pages over two weekends to their Best of 2011 nominations.

In the course of compiling the numbers, I couldn’t help but notice that Edith Campbell Berry, wondrous creation of Frank Moorhouse, scored more favourable mentions in her own right than all but two women authors (Anna Funder and Gail Jones).

The Age and the SMH shared their Best of 2011 piece:

The Age and the SMH also shared a preview of the publishing highlights for 2012

“Busy Bees” are established authors with two or more publications due in 2012.

“Ideas” refers to a section of the article, “Ideas, issues and explorations”, referring to books dealing with philosophical or political themes.

“M/B by subject”: Memoir or biography by gender of the subject.
